Inside the Hive

The brood nest is the colony's carefully-tended space with steady temperature of 95°F thanks to thousands of bees vibrating to generate heat or fanning wings to cool the air. This is where the future of the hive takes shape, cell by cell, and is one of the most active environments in the natural world. 

Every bee begins as a tiny egg, about the size of a grain of rice, laid by the queen into a clean cell. Each caste then follows its own precise timeline. A queen emerges in just 16 days, her development accelerated by an exclusive diet of royal jelly. A worker takes 21 days, and a drone 24.

A brood bee's only job is to eat and grow. Nurse bees may visit a single brood cell more than a thousand times a day with food. And in just five days, a young worker brood increases her body weight approximately 1,500 times. When she emerges after the 21st day, she is rested and ready to serve her family.

Scent Profile

The BROOD opens with a soft heart. A carefully-chosen blend of spice-forward botanicals creates a fragrance anchors to the floral notes. The undertone of vanilla added to the formula is warming, symbolic of the coziness a baby bee feels while tucked away. And a resinous base gives the fragrance its warm, comforting finish.

About Beeswax-Infused Fragrance

Every bottle begins with an infusion of organic sugarcane alcohol with beeswax, a slow process that gives each bottle its distinctive golden color.

Beeswax absolute is also present in every formula. This is a prized material in natural perfumery, extracted from honeycomb wax to draw out the deepest, most concentrated essence of the wax itself. The result is a rich, viscous, dark material with a complex scent that reads as honey, tobacco, and balsam.

Because I work with natural materials and make each batch by hand, slight variations in color, aroma, and clarity may occur. This is the beauty of working with nature, and a part of what makes each bottle special.

How to Use

Rooms: Mist upward into the air and let the fragrance fall and diffuse naturally. The BROOD is a serene fragrance that works beautifully in living spaces, bedrooms, and anywhere you want to feel a sense of stillness. Start with a few mists and build from there.

Textiles and Fabrics: Mist onto throws, cushions, bedding, curtains, upholstered furniture, clothing, and other textiles. Always test on a hidden area first, as natural resins and beeswax may affect light or delicate materials. Allow to dry fully before contact.
