Inside the Hive

Over their lives, worker honeybees, the sisters of the hive, rotate through every job that keeps the colony running. This includes nursing, cleaning cells, building comb, tending the queen, making food, guarding the entrance, and so much more. Depending on the season, workers account for more than 90% of the colony population.

One of the most important roles belongs to the older forager bee, and it is typically her final one. She travels up to five miles from the hive, visiting dozens of flowers per trip and making up to ten trips in a single day. If she grows weary on her travels, she may nap inside a flower to rest.

When she returns to the hive with a good source to share, she communicates its location through the waggle dance, a precise figure-eight movement that tells her sisters the direction, distance, and quality of what she found. It is one of the most sophisticated communication systems in the animal kingdom.

This is one of many reasons why pesticide-free, biodiverse landscapes matter so much. Every forager needs an organic and varied landscape to do her work. Planting native flowers, avoiding pesticides, and supporting pollinator habitat directly supports her efforts to feed her family and keep the hive flourishing.

Scent Profile

The WORKER opens with a burst of citrus. A carefully-chosen blend of bright botanicals creates a fragrance that feels energizing. Herbal notes move through its heart, adding an earthy quality. Tucked into this formula is a drop of lemongrass, a nod to the Nasonov pheromone, the "come hither" scent worker bees release to attract fellow bees. A resinous base gives the fragrance its warm, comforting finish.

About Beeswax-Infused Fragrance

Every bottle begins with an infusion of organic sugarcane alcohol with beeswax, a slow process that gives each bottle its distinctive golden color.

Beeswax absolute is also present in every formula. This is a prized material in natural perfumery, extracted from honeycomb wax to draw out the deepest, most concentrated essence of the wax itself. The result is a rich, viscous, dark material with a complex scent that reads as honey, tobacco, and balsam.

Because I work with natural materials and make each batch by hand, slight variations in color, aroma, and clarity may occur. This is the beauty of working with nature, and a part of what makes each bottle special.

How to Use

Rooms: Mist upward into the air and let the fragrance fall and diffuse naturally. The WORKER is a joyful fragrance that works beautifully in living spaces, bedrooms, and anywhere you want to feel optimistic. Start with a few mists and build from there.

Textiles: Mist onto throws, cushions, bedding, curtains, upholstered furniture, clothing, and other textiles. Always test on a hidden area first, as natural resins and beeswax may affect light or delicate materials. Allow to dry fully before contact.

Important: this blend contains citrus oils, which can cause phototoxicity when the skin is exposed sunlight. Avoid using on skin in direct sun. If you experience any adverse reaction, stop use immediately. If you plan to use on clothing or other items that come into contact with skin, patch test first by applying a small amount to your inner arm and waiting 24 hours before broader use.
